Con tutta la discrezione dovuta, prendo atto del fatto che la battuta di Obama sulla scarsa dimestichezza di McCain con la posta elettronica sia stata registrata come una grave indelicatezza o “gaffe” (tutto è gaffe di questi tempi). Solo, passato qualche giorno e certo che in America qualcuno lo avrà già notato, mi chiedo due cose:

uno) se non sia vero che esistono molte persone che riescono a usare la rete anche con severe difficoltà di digitazione

due) se la tesi per cui sarebbe il suo handicap la ragione per cui McCain non usa l’e-mail non sia contraddetta da altro, come per esempio questa sua dichiarazione di due mesi fa sul suo uso del Blackberry:

I use the Blackberry, but I don’t e-mail, I’ve never felt the particular need to e-mail. I read e-mails all the time, but the communications that I have with my friends and staff are oral and done with my cell phone. I have the luxury of being in contact with them literally all the time. We now have a phone on the plane that is usable on the plane, so I just never really felt a need to do it.
